State Sen. Mike Goggin wants farmer's markets that are eligible to apply for funding through the New Farmers Market Cost Share Program, he said in a Facebook post on April 23.
"The Farmer's Market season is approaching and there are now funds available to offset the cost of equipment needed by markets for social distancing and sanitation to ensure vendors and customers are protected during this time," Goggin said in the Facebook post. "Eligible markets may be reimbursed up to $350 for equipment purchases that will help them comply with the Guidance for Minnesota Farmers Markets and Vendors."
The program is available to all Minnesota farmers markets to help keep vendors and customers safe, according to a press release Goggin linked to. Applications for the program will be accepted through May 31, the press release stated.
The farmer's markets must be authorized to participate in SNAP for 2020, be located in or near a food desert and be located in or near low-income and moderate-income areas, according to the press release.
