Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents Minnesota’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing national political figures and current government operations.

On November 4, 2025, Finstad commented on the legacy of a former vice president: "Few figures have left as indelible a mark on American governance as Vice President Dick Cheney. His leadership shaped an era of history that continues to define U.S. power and principle. A steadfast statesman whose convictions guided the nation through times of great challenge."

Later that day, Finstad addressed recent debates over federal nutrition benefits and government funding: "I joined @HouseAgGOP Chairman Thompson, @HouseAppropsGOP Chairman Cole, and @RepAndyHarrisMD in calling out the Democrats for denying SNAP to vulnerable Americans. Republicans voted to fully fund nutrition benefits and keep the entire federal government open. Had Senate Democrats"

On November 5, 2025, he responded to ongoing federal budget negotiations: "This shutdown has gone on too long. Minnesotans deserve better than political games. Let’s reopen the government and get back to delivering real results for the American people."

Brad Finstad has represented Minnesota’s 1st District since 2022 after succeeding Jim Hagedorn in Congress. Before his tenure in Washington, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in New Ulm in 1976, Finstad is currently 46 years old and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.
