Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents Minnesota’s 1st district in the U.S. House of Representatives, used his social media platform to comment on the ongoing government funding negotiations and the potential for a federal shutdown.

On September 30, 2025, Finstad posted: "House Republicans acted responsibly and passed a clean, bipartisan resolution to keep the government open. Instead of working with us to protect families, veterans, and small businesses, Democrats are pushing the country toward a reckless shutdown to score political points."

The following day, October 1, he reiterated his position: "Our House-passed CR puts Americans first. The Democrat Shutdown puts Americans LAST. Let’s end the political theater and get back to work."

On October 3, as negotiations continued without resolution, Finstad wrote: "This shutdown is entirely because Democrats refuse to do the right thing. The House voted to keep the government open. We did our job. Time for Senate Democrats to do theirs."

Brad Finstad has served in Congress since 2022 after replacing Jim Hagedorn as representative for Minnesota’s 1st district. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. Born in New Ulm in 1976, Finstad continues to reside there.
