Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents Minnesota’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, has recently addressed concerns about campus speech and international fraud through a series of posts on his official social media account.
On September 22, 2025, Finstad commented on remarks made by a professor at MSU Mankato, stating: "No student should sit in a classroom with a teacher who glorifies violence. After a MSU Mankato professor’s reprehensible remarks on Charlie Kirk, and his history of inflammatory language, I urge the university to act. Students deserve an education rooted in respect, integrity," he wrote.
The following day, Finstad highlighted concerns over taxpayer funds being stolen and sent abroad. On September 23, 2025, he posted: "When criminals steal from U.S. taxpayers and send funds abroad, American families lose twice. My Fraud Accountability and Recovery Act blocks foreign aid to countries that harbor fraudsters & refuse to return stolen dollars."
Later that same day, he reiterated his stance on protecting taxpayer money with another post: "Minnesotans work too hard to see their tax dollars stolen and stashed overseas. The FAR Act cuts off American aid for foreign governments that harbor fraudsters."
Finstad has served as the representative for Minnesota's 1st District since 2022 after replacing Jim Hagedorn. Before joining Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in New Ulm in 1976 and currently residing there, Finstad graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree.
