Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents Minnesota’s 1st district in the U.S. House of Representatives, recently shared updates on social media about federal agricultural policy and local economic development efforts in his district.

On August 19, 2025, Finstad commented on a recent decision by the U.S. Department of Agriculture regarding farmland use: "USDA announced it will end taxpayer handouts for solar power plants on prime farmland. This is a big win for farmers, food security, and the next generation who shouldn't have to compete against the federal government for the highest quality soil in the world. Proud to stand with https://t.co/qDPSoPZHa7".

The following day, August 20, Finstad highlighted his visit to Jackson to meet with city officials: "Nice to be back in Jackson to join city staff for an update on the ways they are working to revitalize economic development downtown. We also discussed the FEMA response to last year’s catastrophic flooding, as well as the ongoing challenges the city is facing with rural https://t.co/Tj3Hk79QCW".

Later that same day, he noted a meeting at a local arts venue focused on community issues: "One of the most important parts of serving in Congress is hearing directly from city and county leaders about the issues affecting our #MN01 communities. I had a productive meeting at the Waseca Art Center, where I met with area business owners and city leaders to give an update https://t.co/wbGl2u8IJh".

Brad Finstad has represented Minnesota's 1st District since 2022 after succeeding Jim Hagedorn. He previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota. Born in New Ulm in 1976, Finstad continues to reside there while serving his congressional term.
