Congressman Brad Finstad, representing Minnesota’s 1st district, recently shared insights from his activities in Red Wing through a series of tweets. Finstad, who has been serving in Congress since 2022 after replacing Jim Hagedorn, took the opportunity to engage with local leaders and discuss important infrastructure and economic issues.

On June 3, 2025, Finstad tweeted about his visit to Red Wing where he joined Mayor Gary Iocco for a ride along the Mississippi River. The purpose of the visit was to examine critical infrastructure and Red Wing Grain. Finstad emphasized the importance of Red Wing's port for agricultural exports in Minnesota. He expressed appreciation for the insights shared by Mayor Iocco during this visit. "It was great to be back in Red Wing to join Mayor Gary Iocco for a ride along the Mississippi to look at some of the city’s critical infrastructure, as well as Red Wing Grain."

Later that day, on June 3, Finstad reflected on his experiences meeting business owners across Minnesota's 1st District (#MN01). He mentioned joining the Red Wing Chamber of Commerce discussions focused on congressional efforts to support local businesses. "One of the most rewarding aspects of serving in Congress is the opportunity to travel across #MN01 and meet with the business owners who drive our local economy."

On June 4, Finstad highlighted his tour of Xcel Energy's Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant during a district work period. He noted discussions with Xcel's team about innovative approaches powering communities within his district. He pointed out that nuclear reactors contribute approximately 20% of U.S. commercial electric power. "During last week’s district work period, I toured the @xcelenergy Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant and heard from their team about the innovative things Xcel is doing to power our #MN01 communities."

Brad Finstad was born in New Ulm, Minnesota in 1976 and currently resides there. He graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree and served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009 before being elected to Congress.
