Were students of Stewartville Public School District able to meet MCA and MTAS Reading testing expectations in 2021-22 school year?

Stewartville Public School District ranked third in the Olmsted County for test participation, with 1,101 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Stewartville Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 6.3% over the previous year.

Stewartville Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 49% in 2021-22 school year.

Eighth grade students stood out with 15% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 39% not meeting the expected standards.

Stewartville Public School District encompasses schools within Olmsted County and has a main office in Stewartville.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.
