How many Rochester Public School District students took their MCA and MTAS Math tests in 2021-22 school year?

Rochester Public School District ranked first in the Olmsted County for test participation, with 7,856 students taking the Math portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Rochester Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 20.5% over the previous year.

Rochester Public School District's students achieved an average Math proficiency rate of 40% in 2021-22 school year.

Fourth grade students stood out with 24% of them exceeding standards in Math, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, sixth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 51% not meeting the expected standards.

Rochester Public School District encompasses schools within Olmsted County and has a main office in Rochester.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
