Kingsland Public School District: MCA and MTAS Reading results for 2021-22 school year

Kingsland Public School District ranked second in the Fillmore County for test participation, with 266 students taking the Reading portion of the Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment and the Minnesota Test of Academic Skills in the 2021-22 school year, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.

The number of Kingsland Public School District students taking the tests in the 2021-22 school year rose by 0.8% over the previous year.

Kingsland Public School District's students achieved an average Reading proficiency rate of 58% in 2021-22 school year.

10th-grade students stood out with 21% of them exceeding standards in Reading, which was the highest recorded proficiency at the district.

On the other hand, eighth grade students had the most room for improvement, with 39% not meeting the expected standards.

Kingsland Public School District encompasses schools within Fillmore County and has a main office in Spring Valley.

Minnesota students take the MCA annually (or the MTAS, for students with cognitive disabilities) to determine their academic readiness. Not every grade is tested each year.

Analysis from the Nation’s Report Card showed Math and Reading scores have fallen significantly in the last decade. Science scores have been steady in recent years.

Minnesota Department of Education issues could lead to data irregularities.
