City Of Byron issued the following announcement on Mar. 21.
City workers are scheduled to flush fire hydrants during daytime hours the week of April 24 through 28. Weather conditions may necessitate changing these dates. Please watch the website and social media for updates. Fire hydrants are flushed to prevent buildup in water mains and to exercise the hydrants, ensuring safe and proper operation.
You may encounter some discoloration in your tap water during this flushing. If this happens, please run water through the cold-water taps until the water clears. Try not to run the hot water, as this allows the discolored water to enter the water heater tank.
