City Of Byron issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

Tuesday Nov. 8 is general election day. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Byron voters may vote at City Hall, 680 Byron Main Court NE. To see your sample ballot, register to vote, or locate polling places, visit www.mnvotes.org

When you arrive at city hall to vote, you may park in the parking lot or on the sides of the round driveway in front of city hall. There is a spot reserved for curbside voting to assist anyone unable to come into the building to vote.

When you get inside the building, there will be six roster judges that will help check you in and who will give you a slip of paper. You will walk down the hall to the council chambers to meet the ballot judge and exchange your slip for a ballot. You will then proceed to a voting booth to mark your ballot.  Writing utensils will be provided. After your ballot is marked, you will leave the chambers on the opposite side of where you entered. You will physically place your ballot into the ballot counter located in the hallway. You will then be presented with an ‘I Voted’ sticker if you would like one.

The election judges are responsible for helping the voting process run as smoothly as possible. No one is allowed to campaign within 100 feet of the polling location. That includes wearing any campaign materials – like buttons - that pertain to the current ballot while voting.

The election judges that help at the polling places are volunteers that each work about 16 hours on election day to ensure that all goes smoothly.  They have completed extensive training which they must repeat every two years. #WeAreByro
