City of Canton issued the following announcement on Dec. 31.
You've heard of the five star rating system....well, we're launching the five snowflake rating system. The City of Canton's Snow Response Scale, as we're calling it, is a reporting tool to help gauge how the community handles winter weather events. The rating is the determination of city staff and includes factors such as alternate side parking compliance, timely sidewalk clearing, and barrier-free street plowing. We'll use the scale when we have a significant snowfall (a couple inches or more) to hold residents and business owners, as a whole, more accountable for improving city snow removal operations. We greatly appreciate those of you who voluntarily follow our ordinances and make life much easier for city-wide cleanup. This morning, we're giving Canton 3 out of 5 snowflakes for this inaugural rating. Not bad, but there's certainly room for improvement. If you have any questions about city ordinances, please ask for clarification. In particular, we know there is still some confusion about alternate side parking. We don't want anyone getting a $25 citation.
