CITY OF CANTON: Nick Prestby takes over as Canton’s top elected official on January 4

City Of Canton issued the following announcement on Jan. 02.

WELCOME, MAYOR PRESTBY: Nick Prestby takes over as Canton’s top elected official on January 4. He will be officially sworn in during the city council meeting on January 13. Prestby defeated 12-term incumbent Donivee Johnson in the General Election. Prestby is a Canton native who returned to his hometown in 2011, after living in Georgia for 18 years. He currently works as an operator for Bremik Concrete Pumping. 

Prestby is commander of the Canton American Legion Post 400 and serves on the Assumption Parish Council. He has three daughters and four grandchildren. Prestby says growth and development are top priorities. He hopes to build upon current efforts to clean-up Canton and focus on long-range planning.
