Cost of college went up for all students at Winona State University

In-state tuition and fees rose 0.5 percent for 2018-19 at Winona State University, according to recent data from the U.S. Department of Education.

Minnesota residents paid $9,425 to attend the four-year public institution this year – $46 more than the $9,379 charged for 2017-18.

Non-residents paid 62.8 percent more than residents this year, or $15,348. Their price tag grew 0.3 percent from $15,302 in 2017-18.

About 65 percent of the school's undergraduate population are Minnesota residents. About 34 percent are residents of other states and 1 percent are citizens of other countries.

Data shows 89 percent of full-time undergraduates who started school in 2015-16 received student financial aid in some form. In all, 1,049 students received grants or scholarships totaling $5.3 million and 1,094 students took out student loans totaling more than $10.2 million.

Including all undergraduates (7,792), 4,258 students used grants or scholarships totaling $22.1 million, and 4,512 students took out $29.4 million in federal student loans.
