Rep. Barb Haley (R-21A) issued a recent update to her constituents, reviewing current events.

“The horrific death of George Floyd continues to be a leading topic of discussion at the State Capitol, and it should be,” Haley said.

She said that she is committed to taking part in conversations that will result in real action.

“I certainly don't have all the answers. There will likely be many options considered during special session and I look forward to hearing them all,” Haley said.

Haley also commented on the destruction of the Christopher Columbus statue, saying that the destruction of the "People’s House" was not approached in the proper manner.

“There is a legal process to remove artwork and statues at the Capitol. Putting a rope around a Christopher Columbus statue and ripping it down isn't part of it,” Haley said, adding that local leaders had no right to grant people to destroy the State Capitol’s property.

Haley concluded saying that she is always available to be contacted.
