Minnesota State Commissioner of Administration Alice Roberts Davis addressed concerns many residents have and assured Minnesotans that personal protective equipment (PPE) supplies remain strong in the state and hospitals in Minnesota continue to have steady access to the materials needed to treat patients safely.
While many states and hospitals are struggling to maintain the needed amount of PPE for hospital workers, State Health Commissioner Jan Malcolm also addressed concerns on Minnesota's PPE and told reporters during a press call that the hospitals are conserving PPE and using sterilization methods to reuse equipment safely, according to the Pioneer Journal.
"We certainly hear the tensions around what is the appropriate use of conservation with PPE," Malcolm said during the call. "It's certainly now the case that what might have been automatic one-time use before is changing. There seems to be very good evidence that sterilization and reuse is an effective way to conserve and reuse."
