City of Canton issued the following announcement on Feb. 25.
Well, there it is. This box contains all of the paper documents required for the city's annual year-end audit. In addition, Hawkins & Ash CPAs receives access to our finance-related computer files. The La Crosse-based firm will be working on Canton's audit February 24-26. A report must be submitted to the Office of the State Auditor no later than March 31. Minnesota Statutes require audits for cities with a combined clerk and treasurer position and total annual revenues that exceeded $225,000. The mayor and city council members, along with city administration, will receive copies of the 2019 audit report for review. It is scheduled for discussion and approval at the regular April council meeting. All that said, Canton City Hall will be closing at noon today (February 21) for the delivery of this important box of papers. Stay tuned...
