CITY OF BELLECHESTER: It's Official -- The City Council Approved The Proposed Amendments To Canton's Parking Ordinance

Parking

City of Bellechester  issued the following announcement on Oct. 15.

That means some of you need to change your street parking habits or risk a $25 citation per offense.

In summary, the amendments include the following changes: making it unlawful to leave a vehicle parked in the same spot upon any street or alley for more than 72 hours, requiring all vehicles be parked facing the same direction as the flow of traffic in the adjacent lane of traffic, and instituting an odd/even parking system for the months of November through March to better accommodate street maintenance during the winter season. (In the coming weeks, we will be providing you with additional information about odd/even parking.)

Enforcement of Canton's new parking regulations will begin with a paper warning issued to the owner of the vehicle in violation. Any citations issued by law enforcement officers are to be paid at city hall, within 30 days of the issuance date. Sole authority of waiving a parking citation rests with the Canton City Council.

The parking ordinance, in its entirety, is available for review and/or photocopying during regular city hall office hours.

With all the legalese out of the way, what are your thoughts on the city's new parking rules? Do you think people will voluntarily comply?
