Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents Minnesota’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing recent events involving political violence and legislative developments.

On September 10, 2025, Finstad expressed his reaction to an incident involving Charlie Kirk: "Shocked by the horrific attack on Charlie Kirk. Political violence of this nature has no place in our country. I am praying for Charlie and his family."

Later that day, following passage of new defense legislation, he wrote: "The #FY26NDAA puts our military in a position to restore Peace Through Strength. Glad to see this legislation pass today & proud of our work on @HASCRepublicans to fulfill our commitment to our country’s servicemembers, their families, & all Americans."

In a subsequent post early the next morning, Finstad reflected further on Charlie Kirk’s legacy: "Charlie Kirk was such a bright mind and light to this world. His faith, knowledge, and voice inspired so many. Let’s not allow evil to win by letting his work die with him, but instead pray that those who have heard him will use their faith and reason to be beacons of hope,"

Brad Finstad began serving as the U.S. Representative for Minnesota's 1st district in 2022 after replacing Jim Hagedorn.[source] He previously held office in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 through 2009.[source] Born in New Ulm in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46,[source] Finstad holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.[source]
