Congressman Brad Finstad, representing Minnesota's 1st district, recently shared several updates on social media regarding significant developments affecting his constituents. Finstad, who has been serving in Congress since 2022 after replacing Jim Hagedorn, provided information on disaster assistance for farmers, raised concerns about legal expenses incurred by the state government, and highlighted his commitment to constituent services.
On July 9, 2025, Congressman Finstad addressed the impact of last year's historic flooding in southern Minnesota. He announced that "farmers with eligible '23 and '24 crop losses can now apply for disaster assistance". The sign-ups for this aid will commence on July 10 at local Farm Service Agency (FSA) offices.
Later that day, Finstad commented on a financial issue involving Minnesota's Governor Tim Walz. He expressed concern over "$430k in legal prep for 4 hours of testimony from @GovTimWalz", which he calculated as costing taxpayers over $100k per hour. This tweet questioned the value received for such an expenditure.
On July 10, Finstad conveyed his dedication to serving his constituents through effective problem-solving with federal agencies. He described it as "the honor of a lifetime to serve YOU in Congress" and encouraged individuals experiencing issues with federal agencies to contact his New Ulm office for assistance.
Brad Finstad was born in New Ulm, Minnesota in 1976 and currently resides there. Before serving in Congress, he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009 and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.
