Congressman Brad Finstad, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota's 1st district since 2022, shared several updates on social media recently. Born in New Ulm, Minnesota, and a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Finstad succeeded Jim Hagedorn and previously served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009.
On July 3, 2025, Congressman Finstad announced the passage of a significant bill. He stated that "The bill we passed today delivers exactly what Americans voted for: lower taxes, secure borders, energy independence, and strong national security while also placing much-needed checks on Washington’s waste, fraud, and abuse." He expressed pride in voting for what he described as a historic win.
Later that day, Finstad highlighted his anticipation for an upcoming event involving local talent. He tweeted about his excitement to see "our own Cotter Schools Marching Band perform in the National Independence Day Parade tomorrow!" Praising the band program from Minnesota's 1st district (MN01), he noted it was a privilege to nominate them for this opportunity.
On July 4th, Finstad took to social media again to extend holiday wishes and express gratitude. In his message celebrating Independence Day, he reminded everyone to appreciate those who have contributed to their freedom. He wrote: "As we join friends and family for firework shows and backyard barbeques today, let’s remember to take a moment of gratitude for the men and women who have made it possible to enjoy our freedom." He wished all constituents across MN01 a safe Fourth of July weekend.
Brad Finstad is currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Minnesota’s 1st district after replacing Jim Hagedorn in 2022. Prior to this role, he served in the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009.
