Today, Congressman Brad Finstad of Minnesota's 1st District expressed approval for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Office for Civil Rights' decision to investigate the State of Minnesota. The investigation focuses on potential discrimination against female athletes due to the inclusion of biological males in girls’ and women’s sports teams.

The inquiry relates to Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, which prohibits sex discrimination in education programs receiving HHS funding. This includes entities like the Minnesota Department of Education and the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL).

Congressman Finstad commented on the matter, stating, “Girls deserve a fair playing field in competitive sports, which the State of Minnesota has denied them by allowing biological males to take roster positions, scholarships, and even championships away from them." He further noted his personal connection as "a dad and husband to strong female athletes," expressing satisfaction with "the Trump Administration upholding fairness and equal opportunities in women’s athletics programs by investigating Minnesota’s continued efforts to undermine Title IX protections against biological men playing on girls’ sports teams.”
