WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Brad Finstad (MN-01) issued the following statement after today’s passage of the Limit, Save, Grow Act. 

“It’s time to get serious about the fiscal health of our country. We cannot continue on the path of excessive government spending, rampant inflation, and ballooning national debt,” said Congressman Finstad. “Today, I am proud to vote in support of the Limit, Save, Grow Act, the only responsible approach to raising the debt ceiling. This plan places limitations on federal government spending, while maintaining current funding levels for national defense, veterans benefits and healthcare, and national security, and making no cuts to Medicare or Social Security. 

“Additionally, this legislation protects important tax credits to incentivize investments in ethanol and biodiesel, industries that spur domestic energy production, add value for our farmers, and lower the price at the pump. I appreciate House Leadership for working with my colleagues and I to protect the tools our biofuels industry relies on to invest in critical domestic energy infrastructure.” 

Also included in the bill is a provision that would rescind unobligated funds from COVID relief programs, a solution championed by Congressman Finstad’s Audit and Return It Act that was introduced earlier this year.  

“Some of the largest federal spending in our country’s history occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic at taxpayers’ expense,” said Congressman Finstad. "American taxpayers paid for these massive spending programs, and I am glad to see that the Limit, Save, Grow Act will rescind an estimated $60 billion in unobligated COVID relief spending, a commonsense step to prevent waste and abuse of taxpayer dollars and lower our national debt.”
