The Registry shows seven sex offenders living in Mower County in January

There was the same number of registered sex offenders living in Mower County in January compared to the previous month, according to the Minnesota Public Registrant Search.

There are seven sex offenders registered in Mower County in January.

The Registry shows two of these sex offenders are sexual predators. In Minnesota, convicted predatory offenders also are subject to certain mandatory sentencing laws that are designed to minimize their chances to re-offend.

Minnesota legislation about sex offenders and predators is currently being evaluated and revised, such as if offenders with good behavior can be removed from the Registry.

Steven Robert SporeCriminal sexual conduct in the first degree (3 counts), criminal sexual conduct in the second degree Steven Spore has a history of sexual contact with known male children. Contact has included sexual touching and penetration. Spore met one victim through a big brother program, and gained access when males were either hanging out at his residence or when they spent the night. Spore took advantage of at least one victim's vulnerable state to gain compliance.
Steven Mark KnoppsCriminal sexual conduct in the third degreeSteven Knopps, at age 49, engaged in sexual contact with a known female child. Contact included penetration. Knopps used threats to gain compliance. At age 27, Knopps engaged in sexual contact with a known female toddler. Contact included sexual touching and penetration.
Joseph Henry MallanKidnapping and false imprisonment, criminal sexual conduct in the fourth degreeJoseph Mallan engaged in sexual contact with a known female teenager. Contact included sexual touching and penetration. On a separate occasion,

Mallan held a known adult female against her will and transported her to another location.

David Charles WorkmanPossession of pornographic work involving minors, predatory offense, non-MN statuteDavid Workman has a history of possessing child sex abuse images and has engaged in sexual conduct and contact with known and unknown female children. Conduct included exposure. Contact has included sexual touching and penetration. Workman has used his position of authority and manipulation to gain compliance.
Jayson Edwynn BeaudryCriminal sexual conduct in the second degree, predatory offense, non-MN statuteJayson Beaudry has a history of sexual contact with known female teenagers. Contact has included penetration. Beaudry provided intoxicants to victims, and used force and threats to gain compliance.
Thomas Lee DanielsCriminal sexual conduct in the third degreeThomas Daniels, at age 18, engaged in sexual contact with a known teenage female on multiple occasions. Contact included penetration. Daniels provided alcohol to victim prior to contact and took advantage of her vulnerable state on at least one occasion.
David Andrew GerlachCriminal sexual conduct in the first degree, criminal sexual conduct in the second degreeDavid Gerlach engaged in sexual conduct and contact with a known 8 year old male on numerous occasions over approximately eight years. Conduct included exposure. Contact included sexual touching and penetration. Additional history of sexual contact with two known adolescent males.
