City Of Canton issued the following announcement on Nov. 17.
SPREADING HOLIDAY CHEER: It's time to make Canton's Main Street look festive for the holiday season! The city council approved continuing the Adopt-A-Planter holiday-themed contest.
Between November 23 and December 3, community members, businesses and organizations are invited to pick an empty Main Street planter and fill it will holiday décor. All elements of your Christmastime creation must be within the confines of your planter; nothing can be placed directly on the sidewalk. Electrical extension cords are also not allowed. Planters should be cared for through January 2 and cleared out by January 6. Like the summer contest, Facebook "likes" will once again determine the prize winners, to be announced after noon on Friday, December 9th, the day before Santa Day.. The top three vote-getters will receive Canton Dollars to be redeemed at Sarah's Diner and ZZ Tap. First prize is $50; second prize is $30; and third prize is $20.
