City Of Byron issued the following announcement on Oct. 29.
One of Byron’s most beloved parks is Old Towne Park near the grain elevator. At a meeting Oct. 24, a group of representatives from the Byron Park Board, City Council, youth sports associations and some city employees met on to discuss updating the city’s recreational facilities plan which includes the town’s parks. Ideas flew around the room and by the end of the two-hour session, City Administrator Al Roder had the beginnings of a plan on the wall. In the mix were pool repairs, upgrades to existing facilities, improved parking, and more trees.
Al explained that the ideas will be drafted into a document for the city council’s perusal and eventual inclusion into the city’s CIP. The CIP – the Capital Improvement Plan – is what guides city spending for amenities outside normal costs associated with running the city and keeping infrastructure functional and up to date. #WeAreByron
