Scam Alert - Don't Let This Happen to You!

SCAM ALERT - DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

A Lake City resident was recently scammed out of $40,000 over a period of time. Some of the details involved were the scammer claimed to be awarding a government grant and asked for various payments in advance for the award. I myself am not aware of the exact details of this particular case but the scammers usually request money for payment fees, taxes, various costs etc. Sadly once they get this money they always come up with reasons for needing more and more before your grant/winnings/reward etc are paid out. This goes on until you are out of money or just quit paying them. These scammers are very convincing.

Learn more about this type of scam and others on September 22nd at 2:00pm at Valley View Assembly of God Church 305 W. Grant St. in Lake City. This is a free Senior Scam Presentation by Wabasha County Sheriff Rodney Bartsh & Chief Deputy Jim Warren.

Spread the word. Everyone is Welcome!
