City of Austin issued the following announcement on Jan. 3.
There will be a special election primary on Tuesday, February 9th for the 1st District County Commissioner seat. This election will only involve City residents in Ward 1, Precinct 1 as indicated in the dark pink on the map.
The candidates (in alphabetical order) are: Ric Berg, Tim Duren, Laura Helle, Arnie Johnson, Mark Lang, Michael Langstaff, and John Mueller. This primary will narrow the field to two candidates for the April 13th general election.
In person voting on February 9th for City of Austin voters will take place in Austin City Hall, 500 4th Avenue NE. Early in person absentee voting will be at the Mower County Auditor-Treasurer Office at 201 1st Street NE.
Voters that wish to request an absentee ballot to vote by mail can do so at https://mnvotes.sos.state.mn.us/.../ABRegistrationStep1.aspx
District 1 also includes the townships of Lansing, Red Rock, Udolpho, and Waltham; and also includes the cities of Brownsdale, Mapleview, and Waltham. (the other pink areas on the map). These voters will not vote at Austin City Hall. Please refer to your local jurisdiction as to where to vote.
