CITY OF CANTON: Clarification On A Reporting Error In One Local Newspaper

City of Canton issued the following announcement on Nov. 12.

A reporting error in one local newspaper has raised questions about the Canton City Council election results. The City of Canton followed up on the matter today and confirmed the unofficial results with the Fillmore County Auditor/Treasurer. Here is the present summary of totals for council member at large (as their names appeared on the ballot):

Randy Gossman: 93 votes

Jason Magnuson: 29 votes

Cindy Shanks: 96 votes

Josh Nordsving: 51 votes

Write-in: 2 votes

With two council seats up for election, Randy Gossman and Cindy Shanks are set to fill them, pending the final canvassed results. The Canton City Council will meet in special session, this Thursday, November 12 at 6 p.m. to canvass the results. The meeting is open to the public and will be held at the town hall.

The reporting error has been brought to the newspaper's attention, with a correction set to be published.
