Sen. Mike Goggin wrote in a Facebook post that he applauds Nilssen’s Hub Food Center in Zumbrota who promoted locally grown products and farms exceptionally well.
Nilssen’s Hub Food Center in Zumbrota received the Minnesota Grown Retailer of the Year award.
"Congratulations to Nilssen’s Hub Food Center in Zumbrota," Goggins wrote. "They recently received the Minnesota Grown Retailer of the Year award from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Minnesota Grown program and the Minnesota Grocers Association. They earned this award by consistently supporting Minnesota farmers and supplying local, nutritious produce to our communities. I am grateful to have them in our district, promoting the hard work of local farmers and providing access to quality food."
Thom Petersen, agriculture commissioner for the state, announced the winners from six regions. He highlighted that the vital food security role was paramount during the COVID-19 crisis.
“Now, more than ever, the value of local grocers to their communities is clear for all to see,” Petersen said in a statement on the Department of Agriculture website. “An important part of that is the crucial role they play in promoting nutritious, locally grown products.”
