City of Austin issued the following announcement on June 12.
If you are setting up or looking to buy a pool here are some requirements from the city ordinance:
• Pools with water depths of 24" or less are exempt by this
code
• Fencing- Pools under 47” require 4’ wall or fence with
self-closing lockable gate
Pools 48”+ with non-climbable walls and non-removable
ladder- fence required around the ladder entrance
Pools 48”+ with non-climbable walls and removable
ladder when pool is not in use, no fence is required
• Permit- Pools 5,000+ gallons require building permit
• Setback- Pool at least 8’ from property line
Pool mechanical system 10’ from property line unless in
enclosure
