CITY OF CALEDONIA: City-Wide Spring Clean-Up Begins Monday, April 27

City of Caledonia issued the following announcement on April 17.

Spring clean-up is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 27 and end on Friday, May 1. Residents shall be responsible for having their items set at the curbside by Friday, May 1 at 7:00 a.m. A final sweep will be done at this time. Only acceptable materials will be collected.

Acceptable items include grass, vegetables, leaves, and other kinds of vegetation in its natural state. These items should be placed by the curb in biodegradable bags or cardboard boxes, not garbage containers. In an effort to become more environmentally friendly, the City of Caledonia is requiring residents to use paper biodegradable 30 gallon leaf bags. Bags are available at Caledonia True Value. The weight limit for each bag or box shall be 40 pounds. Leaves & grass MUST be put in the proper container or they will not be collected. Tree branches and brush will be accepted so long as they are cut into pieces not to exceed four feet in length and six inches in diameter and are tied into bundles. The City will NOT collect materials which are not cut or bundled as described. Plastic bags will NOT be collected.

Examples of items which shall not be collected are dirt, rocks, concrete, furniture, dimension lumber, blacktop, and garbage.

The City of Caledonia tree disposal site will be open free of charge for anyone wishing to haul their materials to the dump at their own convenience during spring clean-up from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. daily. In addition, the tree disposal site will still be open regular hours during spring clean-up. Regular hours are Monday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
