Congressman Brad Finstad, who represents Minnesota’s 1st district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on local meetings and community initiatives through several posts on February 3, 2026.
In a post from early morning, Finstad described a recent meeting with various leaders in Owatonna. He stated, “I had the pleasure of meeting with Owatonna’s business, healthcare, education, and local government leaders for a productive conversation about issues impacting our community. We discussed our nation’s decades of failed immigration policy, as well as the need for clear” (posted February 3, 2026).
Later that day, Finstad addressed public safety concerns in Butterfield following an immigration enforcement action. He wrote: “In the small community of Butterfield, ICE recently arrested a criminal illegal immigrant from Laos, who was convicted of selling meth. A dangerous drug dealer has been taken off our streets, and our #MN01 community is safer because of their efforts.” (posted February 3, 2026).
In another update on local infrastructure investment for Nerstrand residents posted later that afternoon, Finstad announced: “I secured $1,000,000 in federal funds for Nerstrand’s water infrastructure improvement project! It’s an honor to help deliver this investment to help construct new wells, upgrade water filtration, and improve water storage for the folks in Nerstrand.” (posted February 3, 2026).
Brad Finstad has served Minnesota’s 1st congressional district since replacing Jim Hagedorn in 2022. Prior to his tenure in Congress beginning that year—where he advocates on issues ranging from public safety to infrastructure—he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in New Ulm in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, Finstad holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Minnesota.
